Volunteering for California Wildlife Center and I will never forget this year how sad it was seeing an incredibly beautiful juvenile fin whale that washed ashore in Malibu, CA, from a boat strike that broke it’s back. The tragedy is we can’t get the ships to slow down on the Pacific Coast as they must now do on the Atlantic Coast ( Eastern universities worked to change speeding laws to protect the Right whales ) and the whales only hear the propeller and don’t know the rest of the long dangerous ship is “secretly” out in front...and why so many strikes. We need to make boats/ships put alert sounds on the front to warn marine animals they need to get out of the way much sooner!
