Kudos to Marshall and Brad - this is what emergency preparedness is all about - community awarenessRead More and responsiveness. Now the hard part... follow-up with everyone involved.

Obviously someone's septic tank or pipe broke open and all their poop ran downhill right onto theRead More sand.

Firemen are my true heroes. Not once, but twice, have they saved my house over the years, as wellRead More as where I worked most of my career. We cannot thank them enough for their yeomen efforts and hard work. When they are on the lines, we always provide them with food and drink, which is the least that we can do. We also welcome them when they make their annual inspections of properties here to ensure that homeowners clear their brush. When I was in school, we were visited by Firemen, who handed out badges and booklets on fire safety. I was proud to wear my "Junior Fireman" badge back then, and feel the same today!

It would be a great public service if registered Malibu Patch readers could sign-up for an ALL CLEARRead More email to be distribute when Malibu Patch is so notified by authorities, in this case, the CHP. CHP's Road Conditions (800) 427-7623 interactive hotline, can't designate N1 (Malibu Canyon Road) in their automated system. Entering "1" gives PCH instead. West Valley CHP office closed before 5 PM.

I just wonder why celebrity justice goes on and on in this case. Is it just putting off theRead More inevitable? Would anyone else receive this Cadillac treatment? There is a difference between real justice and celebrity coddling and coddling is what we have here!

I watched this video with tears streaming down my face. Thank you one and all for rehabilitatingRead More these pups back to health and then releasing them back into their natural environment. All marine critters should be so fortunate.

I was only around this icon a few times. Every time he was the "most interesting man ..."Read More The most engaging guy in the room. His stories were always inspirational. Even though wildly successful he returned phone calls and always answered his own phone. He was incredibly generous to many organizations in the South Bay. Always without hesitation we would donate. I called him a short while ago to speak at our Rotary club. He did not think twice, said absolutely as long as I can bring my wife. We have lost an icon, a South Bay legend. Even though I did not know Bob Meistrell I feel really lucky to have met him.

A few years back, when Body Glove was still on 6th Street in Hermosa, Bob noticed me coming aroundRead More after closing time on several occasions. He asked (with a smile) if I was casing the place. I admitted that I was, in a sense. I was using the buildings in a novel I was writing called, "THE HI-TEC ROCKS." (AMAZON) The compound was destined to become the world headquarters for Turner Sound Systems. He invited me inside and let me look around all I wanted. His only request was that I give him a copy when it was published. Of course I readily agreed. except that it wasn't published until a year ago. I was always intending on sending him the promised payment, but it just didn't seem like something he would remember after all this time. Very sorry I never got around to it.

What a kind, wonderful man! A true Christian, he truly walked the walk! The wonderful stories heRead More told as he Captained his boat! A real loss to all. May the Meistrell Family find comfort in knowing that Bob affected many lives in such positive ways!
Thanks Dad!

My comment was in response to newborn sleep . I am neither a single mom or a "run overRead More mom" I work nites and my husband was the stay at home caregiver. I say thanks to my kids dad EVERYday not just once a year. My comment was to assist people in general with info to keep their newborn safe...get over yourself
Vito Spago June 19, 2013 at 10:46 am
I am a Dad and I think keeping newborns safe is very important. I do want to add that I think kidsRead More can be messed up in Lesbian and single mom households where Dads are not presents. Look at the freak that Cher has as a kid. Same with Barbra Streisand.
Jack Torrance June 19, 2013 at 10:52 am
You don't get it Sharon. This was a short article to honor dad's. It had nothing to do withRead More newborn sleep. You took it upon yourself to CHANGE the subject of the article. If you want to "assist people in general with info to keep their newborn safe", then start your own blog. You need to get over yourself.

Ryan, Thanks for the update on the Lavine lawsuit. The city would have the public believe that allRead More is rosy in Malibuville but dont believe it. This hard charging development of the civic center that is already one year behind can be delayed and should. I would imagine the hotel site sitting above the treatment plant could spin the aroma into a new Malibu perfume. Eux de poo. A wastewater treatment plant in a residential and school area and injected water into the lowland wetland. This surely must seem insane to someone other than us.

The first reaction is to say that sewage treatment for a bunch of Beverly Hills malls is the veryRead More epitome of "commercial visitor serving." That's just pointing out our stupid zoning mess. R Y A N is absolutely right. This area is already bearing more off-site sewage treatment than any other part of our city. And it is INSANE to inject perfectly-good water into an active earthquake fault. This water should be injected or released into nearby canyons to recharge the aquifers. Malibu used to get its drinking water from local wells at Trancas, Malibu Creek and Big Rock. No one would use that water now, as there have been decades of septic discharge there. There are other canyons (Latigo, for example) where treated Title 22 water from the existing county plant, plus the new city plant, could be pumped to. We could create a world class salmon run in Latigo Creek with this water. We could build a few reservoirs for helispots in the canyons with this water. We could let it recharge aquifers for eventual household use in those canyons. No. The State Water Board and city of Malibu are rushing headlong into this Tracy Egoscue nightmare. She was the Water Board executive director R Y A N mentons, and she HATED Malibu. This unreasonable scheme was foisted on us -- just before she got fired. Save Winter Canyon! Keep millions of tons of water out of the Malibu Coastal fault. Keep precious Sacramento delta water from being injected into the ocean. We goot come up with a better plan.

You hit the nail right on the head, Hans. We should explore the usage of water and returning it toRead More its former useful state and re-charge the natural drainages and native habitats and inhabitants while using the natural water purifier we were gifted with, Mother earth.
