I pray for the cyclist and his family. We drove by as well.
Ann Tomkins July 19, 2014 at 06:35 am
Cars come flying over that hill. It is always a struggle to turn left from Latigo onto PCH in aRead More car. I can only imagine how much harder it would be on a bicycle.
Georgienne Bradley July 19, 2014 at 09:22 pm
The PCH is getting increasingly chaotic. More cars, pedestrians crossing along the entire stretchRead More and myriad other distractions make bike riding extremely dangerous. Even the most careful drivers are challenged on this obstacle course. Cyclists are not allowed on the 405. As the PCH becomes more like a freeway, perhaps cycling should be restricted to low volume traffic hours. I do not want to see more cyclists, with the intent of spending a pleasant day, outdoors engaged in a healthy sport getting injured. The current situation concerns me.
Bryan Stow was beaten and severely injured at Dodgers Stadium in March 2011. A jury has found the Dodgers business entity negligent in its security for the stadium. Patch file photo.

About 20 years ago, my husband was hit in the face by a drunk dodger fan and the man continued untilRead More I showed up in front of the man---Pregnant--two weeks due and was yelling and asking him what he was doing and why he had hit my husband in the face. Someone from dodger stadium came and wrote the incident down but nothing happened---No apology---nothing. The guys simply hit him because the dodger ticket agent was taking too long---so he hit my husband in the face. I'm glad this has happened to the dodgers.
Douglas Quillin July 10, 2014 at 08:38 am
This article is a little confusing. LA Times says the jury found the Dodgers "shared just 25%Read More of the liability for Stow's injuries." Still, the law requires they pay for all of the injury expense. Well, I'm no lawyer!

California is awful for small business. It's great for high-profit tech firms that need to attractRead More highly paid talent. That's why so many small businesses incorporate in NV or other states and utilize other residency loopholes to avoid outrageous taxes and fees. If they eased up on the $800 an LLC has to pay ever year (I believe only ONE other state charges a flat large annual fee like this), maybe there wouldn't be so much flight. What I can't comprehend is the previous post claiming companies are lobbying the state for lenient immigration rules so they can have access to cheap labor. Who are these companies? Certainly not the tech firms in the Bay Area, what are they going to do with migrant workers? They're the donors to the Democratic party. And if the Demos aren't trying to create policy that would benefit the poor and middle class, then who is? Republicans? Would you be able to tell me that with a straight face?

To say 'rocked' is an exaggeration. these were tiny little shakers. none of us noticed it as weRead More sat down for breakfast. we live at Zuma, what is strange is feeling a quake no where near here. couple of months ago there were some decent afternoon rollers and when we checked the earthquake site there was nothing. still to this day after we reported it. nothing. however these were an hour apart and there were measurable quakes up the coast in northern Cali. an hour before we felt these. hmmmm
Stuart Ebert June 21, 2014 at 02:44 pm
Yeah, there was another article in the LATimes last week about the Oklahoma quake activity. The barRead More graph that was included was most telling - basically no quakes for twenty years and then sudden increase past five years. I'm sure that a chart of CA quake activity would LOOK THE SAME. If you feel something odd is going on - you're right.

Attn: Mr. R. Terry Date: Monday June 09, 2014 It is because of gamblingRead More that some horses and bulls lose their lives. When horses continue to have a losing streak the owner is not making any cash off that horse, it is off to the Glue Factory with that horse. If a horse breaks it's leg in the race it is off to the Glue Factory with that horse. Bulls will die automatically in a Bull Fight after the Matador sticks both swords in the bull's throat from the left and right side of the bull. So don't tell me gambling has nothing to do with your comment. I understood what you were saying. But these animals are going to be killed if there is no money to be made that is all there is to it. I don't like it anymore than you do. But it seems that way the ball bounces and one of us is going to have to catch and stop that ball from bouncing. The best. Sadly, all too often these cases end very badly (and fatally) for these children. We areRead More increasingly seeing cases such as this one with the courts and law enforcement officials doing all to little to protect victims. The attitude (until the child is actually killed) is that the mother is 'exaggerating', 'hysterical', and that (as I was told by the police) "a father would never hurt his own child". The ignorance and "turning a blind-eye attitude" that we are seeing in the courts is largely responsible for cases such as these escalating to this point. I hope on this occasion the police will take action rather than 'sweeping it under the carpet' as usual. For more information about the failure of courts to protect victims see Family Courts in Crisis posted on http://worldpulse.com/node/71182.

Again - this issue is about a material breach of contract. It is a standard morals, character andRead More behavior clause issue. Any violation of Mr. Sterling's privacy rights is between him and his mistress. Since the NBA and its franchisees are harmless, the censure and fine will stick. Sterling has a history of being litigious - so he may well litigate even if all the franchisees force him out, which they will. Either way through a conservator or sale - Sterling is out of the Clippers management business. This isn't a 1st Amendment issue - as no censorship or punishment was rendered by the federal government. Beast, the impact of the communication still violates Sterling's contract. This this not like a 4th Amendment "fruit of the poisonous tree case" - there is no wrongful federal or state government involvement. Sterling will need to seek redress from his mistress. And, he may seek redress from TMZ if they obtained the tape illegally. Which, as of yet there is no indication.
The Beast ! May 1, 2014 at 12:29 am

There are houses transformed into meth labs all over LA, not just Malibu. There are also markets allRead More over LA for selling their product. You can make meth in your kitchen - not the 'breaking bad' variety, but still the variety to get you very high. People do drugs. People make and distribute drugs. The drug 'war' has failed miserably. Over 2000 war veterans in the USA have committed suicide in the USA upon returning home since January 1, 2014! Are these suicides related to the 'war on drugs?' Damn straight they are. People are self-medicating in any form available since they are not being treated for their PTSD and depression and anxiety and overall emotional neglect. These meth labs are a direct result of neglect and abandonment by a culture of greed, political abuses and 'I got mine, fuck you' acceptance normalized. No where in LA is their more disparity of wealth than Malibu but meth labs exist everywhere. Fires are the least of the dangers. We are imploding and we are blaming the 'addicts.' We are doomed.
