Pam - You are absolutely right. Most people criticizing Republicans or Democrats standing against…Read More Sharia Law have not done any research including reading their own words in the koran. Dalia Mogahed, Barack Obama’s adviser on Muslim affairs says : “Sharia is not well understood and Islam as a faith is not well understood.” Oh really!? Well some people have done their homework and checked out the source and they really know what they're talking about. Women are saying they don't want to give up their rights under Republican governing. These women need to get informed. It is an absolutely lie. Under this spineless, Muslim terrorist-Shariah-bowing president, women will have no rights. That's why Hillary Clinton has no power when she goes to these countries to do her job. They don't acknowledge women and that's why obama did not take his preceious michelle to Turkey. Obama doesn't even resemble any kind of Christian faith. He never fails to apologize for America and its patriots. Most critics will never do the research, but will talk to peers and are too lazy to get to the facts. Debating is great only people really know what they're talking about. This is a critical time when both parties need to be informed, study the Constitution and get your head out or your ____. Hilldale College has an online Constitution course that is free. I encourage everyone to take it. The attempt to discredit our Constitution and our rights will shock you!

Lorelei -- hate to break the news to you -- Obama is muslim. My source was close to the shah of…Read More iran. When obama bowed to saudi king he was bowing in reverence to the king's foremost title. The highest title saudi king hold is "Guardian of Mecca". It recognized as the highest title known to muslims. Don't believe me -- I challenge you to dig it out for yourself. I always check my sources. BTW, obama is the least transparent president. Transparency meant us not him. There is a difference between hate and righteous indignation to protect our Constitutional rights. I remember a time when we could all disagree on politics and it would be a civilized discussion. At this time in history the liberals who claim to be so tolerant are the most intolerant people I know. They can disagree with an issue, but it now takes on personal attacks. Stop drinking the kool-aid. Just for the record get used to calling the president -- Mitt Romney.

Niles you're probably right on their stand on Israel. We need to stand with Israel. I am amazed this…Read More guy in the White House parties on the boob tube and doesn't have time to see Netanyahu or the other Israeli leaders. Heck, he was too busy on The View and did not even set up meetings with world leaders at the Clinton Summit, even though the world's on fire. Today I read in L.A. Times that he has not had the proper time to practice for his debates because he is soooo busy with world events. Really? Like the Letterman show. He is not naive -- just so incompetent and blinded by his own vanity. He's never met a mirror he didn't like!

Thanks to both gentlemen for visioning such a powerful tribute, to Pepperdine for hosting it, and…Read More for keeping it apolitical despite the YR origin. One cannot help but be moved when seeing it.

If MSA had a hand in doing to Little Dume what has happened at the lagoon I'm sure you would feel…Read More the same way. As a surf shop owner, I feel that you should have been more protective of the wave at Malibu, or at the very least tried to really find out what was going to happen. Not sure you have even gotten out of your car to go look at the mess down there as you drive by everyday.
It's great to save the world , but what about your own backyard?
Maybe I should be praising Bob Morris and his restaurant at Paradise Cove for all the good that he brings to your neighborhood ??

Hey can I come to the locals only party. How long do you have to live in Malibu to be a local. Gee…Read More I wish I was a local, but everytime I go surfing everyone is a d*ck. Surfers should learn from skaters who are always cool to strangers. Lets face it, this locals only attitude is racism, and shameful. So sad that a beautiful place like Malibu is so full of this prejicsim to outsiders. People of Malibu should shun Malibu locals only Racists, otherwise you are an accomplice. Grow up. So funny to read the patch and see so many Malibu locals brazenly spewing out racism, localism, .. even against the Chumash who are the real locals.

sean,
...so you are cool with malibu beach being closed for a bunch of contests all summer, but…Read More having one "locals only" day seems unreasonable? ...and how can you be so sure that the people that are d*cks to you are even from malibu? anyways, there will be a huge rager at the malibu inn on the 20th, and there will be hundreds of locals. why dont you see if you can make some new friends?

haha! this is like raking leaves in a hurricane. the first big storm will flush a million more…Read More pounds of trash from malibu creek and all the other canyons out to sea. MSA needs to take their publicity stunt and go away. picking up the trash in the canyons or spreading the word about avoiding disposable products would be more proactive

Heal the Bay is doing a pretty good job handling that! Every little bit helps if we all chip in.…Read More Steve has been taking bags of trash out of the Zuma Creek Lagoon because the Beaches and Harbor dudes won't get out of there tractors and get wet.

I once spent some time under the bridge at the lagoon some years back. I picked up cig butts, paper,…Read More bottles, and other nasty things that I won't mention. I filled two or three garbage bags. If more people would do that it would be nice. But it would be even nicer if people would use garbage cans in the first place.

Great article with important information.
Steve Woods has lived in Corral Canyon for 14 years…Read More and can give you quite a lesson in the grassy firebreaks up here that have been infested with castor bean plants which are extremely flammable. Steve and others in Corral Canyon have spent thousands of hours hacking down these extremely aggressive non natives. Not only are they not pleasing to look at but they are extremely poisonous to humans and animals if ingested. Ricin gas ( terrorists have used this chemical in terrorist attacks ) is produced from the seeds. We want to bring attention to eradicating this out of control species before Malibu is completely invaded by these dangerous plants. Jefferson Wagner ( Zuma J ) is doing his best to eradicate castor beans in Latigo Canyon. Steve and I plea to all property owners who have castors growing. PLEASE cut and bag the seeds and cut the stalk just below ground level with a machete or branch cutters. It is vitally important to bag the seeds before tractors disc the seeds into the ground. We would love to see the the City of Malibu develop a program to address these non natives along our road ways and disturbed areas.
Cece Stein August 2, 2012 at 12:42 pm
