Funding for Malibu Fire Station Approved
The 5,800-square-foot station will have a kitchen, dining room, day room, office space, two full bathrooms, six individual dormitories and a bay large enough for two engines and a paramedic squad.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved spending $8.4 million to replace a Malibu fire station.
Fire Station 71 at 28722 W. Pacific Coast Highway was built in 1939. County officials planned to renovate the facility, but eventually decided it would be more cost effective to tear it down and start from scratch.

A temporary station at the Zuma Beach Lifeguard Headquarters will house firefighters during construction, which is expected to begin late this year.
Erickson-Hall Construction Co. will be awarded the design-build contract.
