The son of legendary movie actor Clark Gable is suspected of driving under the influence in a crash that damaged six cars and a house on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu Tuesday afternoon.

John Clark Gable, 52, was allegedly driving a white Ford Raptor that rear-ended a vehicle near the Malibu Pier at about 3 p.m. Tuesday, said Sgt. John Skikas of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Malibu-Lost Hills Station.

The motorist whose car was struck called 911 to report the crash while following the pickup, which then crashed into six parked cars at 21322 Pacific Coast Highway, near Las Flores Canyon Road, Skikas said.

One of the parked vehicles was pushed into the garage of a home on PCH, investigators said, causing moderate to major damage to the structure.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators said they suspected Gable was driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Gable was taken to a hospital for a blood test, Skikas said, and was to be booked at the Malibu-Lost Hills Station for suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run.

Gable posted $15,000 bail and left the sheriff's station at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to the sheriff's department.

An eastbound lane on PCH was closed to accommodate the clean-up and investigation, backing up traffic nearly to the Malibu Pier. Westbound traffic was not impacted.

Gable was in the news almost a year ago when his live-in girlfriend was found dead in their Malibu home on April 11, 2012. Christiane Candice Lange, 41, died in the house but authorities did not suspect foul play. The last known media reports quoted a coroner's spokesman as saying Lange's death was suspected of being from natural causes or the prescription drugs she was taking.

Gable, the only son of Clark Gable, was born four months after his famous father died of a heart attack. More information about Gable is available on the IMDb website.
