Where Are the Seekers of Truth in the Media

It is beyond disheartening to see your President and his administration propagate an intentional cover-up of the truth for political aspirations.  That is what Benghazi is, a cover-up.  Within twenty-four hours the administration knew that the attack that killed Ambassador Stevens, information officer Sean Smith, and Navy Seals Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods was not spontaneous, and was not the result of some ridiculous video that had been on the internet for two months and had only 300 views.  Yet for over a week the information coming out of the White House from the President, Ambassador Rice, Hillary Clinton and Jay Carney repeatedly affirmed this reckless untruth. 

9/14/2012 – “We don’t have and did not have concrete evidence to suggest that this was not in reaction to the film, but we’re obviously investigating the matter.”  Jay Carney White House spokesman

9/16/2012 – “Our current best assessment based on the information that we have at present is that, in fact, what this began as was a spontaneous, not a premeditated, response to what happened and transpired in Cairo.”  On ABC UN Ambassador Susan Rice   Susan Rice went on 5 national television shows and perpetrated the same lie.

9/17/2012 – “I don’t think we know enough.  And we’re going to continue to assess…We’re going to have a full investigation now, and then we’ll be in a better position to put labels on things.”  Victoria Nuland State Department spokeswoman, asked if the Benghazi attacks were terrorism.

9/18/2012 – Ambassador Rice was speaking on behalf of the government with regard to our initial assessments.  I don’t have any more details…All of the information is going to go to the FBI for their investigation, and when they’re completed, then we’ll have more information.  State Department Victoria Nuland

Even as late as the Vice-President and Paul Ryan debate Joe Biden asserted the untruth:   BIDEN: Well, we weren’t told they wanted more security there. We did not know they wanted more security again. And by the way, at the time we were told exactly — we said exactly what the intelligence community told us that they knew. That was the assessment. And as the intelligence community changed their view, we made it clear they changed their view.

On Wednesday, the State Department's former point man on security in Libya told the House Oversight Committee that he asked for additional security help for the Benghazi facility months before the attack, but was denied.

Various communications dating back a year asked for three to five diplomatic security agents, according to testimony at Wednesday's hearing. But Eric Nordstrom, the one-time regional security officer, said he verbally asked for 12 agents.

The request for 12 agents was rebuffed by the regional director of the State Department's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Nordstrom testified.

On top of the administration’s denial of knowledge of the true nature of the attack or knowledge of any requests for enhanced security is the negligence of ignoring the unbelievable enhanced security threat of the 9/11 anniversary in one of the most endangered embassies in the Middle East.  For goodness sake, we had enhanced security in Paris, why not in Benghazi? 

I ask you, if an administration can lie about an attack on our embassy which is equal to an attack on our homeland, what more are they capable of lying about in order to hold on to power?

This is not about liberals or conservatives; this is about the essence and the security of our United States of America.  This administration denies the rise of al Quaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood throughout North Africa and Africa, trying to convince us that the death of Bin Laden was, in fact, the end of the danger to our country.  This sham of “Benghazigate” was created to protect their fantasy of a successful foreign policy.  What other explanation could we have for the bizarre behavior of Susan Rice, Jay Carney, Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama. 

My husband, Joe Merback, says that having lived through Watergate as a Nixon Republican, he was embarrassed to the point of giving up his Republican affiliation for many years and voted Democrat.  He now wonders how many Democrats will do the same.  There is nothing worse in politics than outright liars especially when it concerns our national security.
